Tested – Realistic Navaho TRC-431 40 Channel CB

This 40 Channel CB radio has a very nice signal output is really clean after some elbow grease IPA and a zillion paper towels…. Power filter caps are good, power supply ripple is very low, and internals are very clean. Verified receive sensitivity and transmit THD all in spec. Checked with my spectrum analyzer, frequency counter, scope, frequency generator, distortion analyzer etc..

This radio is on frequency, after a minor adjustment, and is on spec. It does not crackle or hummmm etc.. It does have a few small “dents” on the top and one on the back and one on the corner but are not really an issue.
I was surprised how well the harmonics are suppressed and the sensitivity is really very good. I guess this is one of the cases where “they don’t build them like they used to” is accurate.

  1. Hi! I have the TRC-431 and it doesn’t power on anymore. I am sure there would be several things to check. I may take it to a shop to be checked out sometime. Which parts would you suggest to check first? Thanks!

  2. Hello.
Where is the adjustment located to bring the transceiver spot on frequency on transmit and receive? Can not find a service manual anywhere.
